I can't think of things to write for days at a time, then all at once it happens. Anyway, here is a link to a news story that involves one of our friends, Jen Charbonneau. She was driving her scooter (a very dangerous and popular mode of transportation here in Austin) and got in an accident. While she lay trapped under a Cadillac, two men stole her purse and went through it taking her wallet and phone! Thankfully some witnesses saw them and told police, so her things were recovered, but can you imagine? More thankfully though, Jen is fine, just some road rash and a bit less faith in humanity were all she suffered...

poor girl ! JM and I were taking a scooter date* last NIGHT, and i was telling him about the statistics of crash survival on a scooter.
He agreed, but said he wasn't going to live that way, and that he thought the key was to not ever get comfortable- and always be on guard.
Anyhow, it still scares me, and i force hiim to wear the helmet at all times. sometimes he really puts up a fight- good thing i have a no helmet tolerance RULE!
